Gorge verses Cowichan GAME REPORT
December 9/06

A lengthy break from soccer matches was finally ended as Cowichan and Gorge squared off at Bullen Park. Missing from the roster were Kevin, TJ and the injured RJ.

The game started with Gorge holding the majority possession, but at the 9th minute a penalty kick was awarded the opposition and while Mateus was able to get a hand on the ball, it found its way into the Gorge net to open the scoring.
At 16min 30, Tom had a great run down the right side and delivered a tasty cross into the path of the onrushing Russell on the far post, who popped the first Gorge goal in the net.
At 58 minutes, Gorge was peppering the Cowichan keeper and Ryan L sent a rocket from outside the 18 to put Gorge in the lead.
The game began to get more chippy as we neared the end.
At 75 minutes Cowichan put the pressure on our keeper ending up in their 2nd goal to tie the game as the final score.
2 minutes later, following a solid challenge by Jordy, an opponent responded by “after the play” interactions with Jordy resulting in a red card for Cowichan and Gorge.

Parental interjections with the referee continued well after the game had concluded, leaving a less than positive feeling in the air.
Outcomes from the red cards are yet to be determined.
