Gorge FC v Gordon Head - LISA B Cup Final Replay

Gorge FC 4 - 3 (PK's) Gordon Head

A successful protest by Gordon Head on an officiating error (game was prematurely ended) forced a replay of the LISA B Cup Final. Gorge FC had prevailed in the Feb 24 shortened game by a score of 1-0.
Tonight's match was for all the marbles. The winner advances to play the Upper Island rep in the Island B Cup Final on Sunday (where both teams advance to the Provincials) and the loser is relegated to the District Cup for their chance of silverware.
It was a cold and rainy night..............(even snowed earlier in the day). The teams were on the field early at 5:15 for warmups in a light rain. Gorge FC welcomed back Ryan and Kevin who were previously engaged for the last match. Tonights game was also the last Gorge FC would see of Tom for over a month as he heads to Australia tomorrow.
As a steady rain settled over the Lower Tyndall field, the game got underway shortly after 6 pm. Gorge FC immediately were on the offensive and within two minutes Jordy was fouled 30 yards from goal on the right side of the field. Quinn took the free kick and launched a rocket that deflected off the underside of the bar for David to be the man on the spot to knock in the rebound and give Gorge FC an early lead.
Score: Gorge FC 1-0
It was a furious start to the match and Gordon Head responded well with a goal of their own at the 7 minute mark.

Three goals in the first 7 and 1/2 minutes! Whew! After playing over 71 minutes last week with only one goal scored, this looked to be a long night. Gordon Head evened the scoring again on 30 minutes when a player was fouled just on the edge of the box and Kevin Sheen took the kick sending it top right into the net.
Score: 2-2
The half ended with the match up for grabs. The break was welcomed by all as both teams retreated to the warmth of the dressing rooms.
The second half started similar to the first with Gorge FC again taking the lead on 43 minutes with Ryan Erikson getting his foot to the ball in the box and putting it home.
Score: Gorge FC 3-2
Opportunities came and went for both teams and Gordon Head leveled once again on 69 minutes with a long free kick which sailed into the box with the Gordon Head striker putting it past Mateusz.
Score: 3-3

Still no scoring happened and the whistle blew. The teams changed ends and proceeded with the next 15 minute overtime half. Gordon Head was quick off the restart and rang one off the crossbar. Gorge FC pushed back and had a number of golden opportunities of their own. A post and crossbar were hit by Gorge strikers. As time ticked down, the teams faced a shoot out.
The final whistle in overtime blew with the score still tied at 3-3.
